Burst water mains in Penarth likely to affect water supply
Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water have advised there has been a burst water mains at Cogan Hill, Penarth, which is likely to affect the water supply to many properties in the area until later this morning (August 19th).
This will mean that any food businesses without water will be required to cease the handling of open foods whilst there is no supply of water. This is due to the inability to effectively maintain food safety controls and comply with hygiene laws.
Those food businesses selling packaged food may continue to trade as long as hand sanitiser is used to replace the use of water and soap. Updates on the situation can be viewed here. The affected areas are indicated in the image on the right.
Any queries or complaints regarding the disruption to the supply should be directed to Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water on 0800 085 3968. Any queries in relation to the continual provision of water to vulnerable persons or whether a food business can continue to operate should be directed to Vale of Glamorgan Council tel: 0300 123 6696
