Animal Welfare
Any person responsible or in charge of an animal whether or not on a permanent or temporary basis has a duty under the Animal Welfare Act 2006 to ensure the needs of the animal are met.
A person commits an offence if an act of his, or a failure or act causes an animal to suffer unnecessarily.
An animal's needs include:
- A suitable environment
- A suitable diet
- Ability to exhibit normal behaviour patterns
- To be housed with, or apart from other animals
- To be protected from pain, suffering, injury and disease
Report
Livestock Animals or Licensed Premises
Officers from Shared Regulatory Services will investigate any instances of reported animal welfare issues concerning livestock farms or at licensed premises. To report an issue please contact SRS:
